The Accursed Mountains, Bjeshët e Namuna in Albanian, straddle the border of Kosovo, Albania and Montenegro. The Adriatic is less than 100km away, driving consistent maritime snowstorms onto 2,500m peaks that almost nobody skis.
This is pure cat-ski freeride: the snowcat does all the climbing, you do the riding. You base at Gacaferi Guest House at 1,840m on the Kosovar side, and the local guides Deni and Bardhosh take you to the best snow of the day, from open bowls to steeper faces, depending on conditions and the group.
Accursed Cat-Ski Freeride runs on request: six cat-ski days and seven nights, on the dates that suit your group.

Black Rider, New to Freeride ← This Trip
You get down black slopes safely, but powder and off-piste are new. No need to be a pro: the guides keep it to mellower terrain.
Experienced Freerider ← This Trip
Comfortable off-piste and hungry for vertical. Steeper faces when conditions and the group allow.
Not Yet a Black Rider?
Getting down a black slope safely is a must for cat-ski freeride. If you are not there yet, a technique camp first is the better choice.

Land in Pristina, Head for the Mountains
Fly into Pristina International Airport (PRN). The group meets for the shared transfer of about 2.5 hours via Peja up to Gacaferi Guest House. Safety briefing and dinner with the guides.
Six Days of Snowcat Laps
Every morning the guides check snow and weather and pick the zones. The cat takes the group up, you ride down, and repeat: open bowls on the north-facing aspects, steeper faces when conditions allow, and lunch out on the mountain. The first day starts with a beacon check and calibration runs.
Head Home
Final breakfast, checkout and shared transfer back to Pristina for your flight.
Our Safety
Standards

Safety First
The Accursed Mountains are remote and unpatrolled, so safety is non-negotiable. Every group rides with two local guides, usually one leading and one at the tail, who assess snow and weather every morning before choosing terrain.
Every rider gets standard avalanche safety equipment, included in the price, and the first morning starts with a briefing on how to use it.
The guides can change the day's programme when conditions call for it. Safety comes first, then the level and wishes of the group.
Travel and medical insurance is not included. We recommend Alpenverein (Austrian Alpine Club) insurance, which covers mountain rescue costs. Check that your cover includes off-piste skiing in Kosovo.
