The Trip

Lifts for the Steeps.
Skins for the Quiet.
One Week in the Pyrenees.

Val d'Aran sits in the Catalan Pyrenees on the French border, a green, forested valley with its own language, Aranese, and a mountain culture that is still very much alive. It is home to Baqueira-Beret, one of Spain's best-known ski areas, and to a lot of quiet terrain beyond the lifts.

This trip combines both worlds. Some days we use the lifts to reach steep, off-piste lines quickly. On others we put the skins on and leave the lift system behind for forests, open valleys and ridgelines with long views. Some days may link mountain refuges, depending on conditions and the group.

You ride with a certified local mountain guide who knows where the snow holds and where it doesn't. Along the way you pick up off-piste technique, avalanche safety and tour planning, so you leave with more skill and more independence in the mountains.

01
Lifts and Skins

Lift-assisted freeride at Baqueira-Beret to cover ground and warm up, then skins on for quieter lines away from the lift system.

02
Certified Local Guide

A certified local mountain guide who knows the terrain and the snowpack of Val d'Aran far better than any guidebook.

03
Conditions First

We read the snow and weather every morning. If one aspect is loaded or the weather turns, the plan changes.

04
4 to 6 Hours a Day

Daily stages of 4 to 6 hours. Good fitness is required, but this is not an extreme ascent-count trip.

05
Safety Built In

Practical avalanche gear use, risk management and tour planning are part of every day, not an add-on.

06
Aranese Hospitality

A valley with its own language and traditions, local food and a small-group atmosphere that never feels like a package holiday.

Who It's For

Who This
Trip Is For

Val d'Aran Deep & Wild is for intermediate to advanced skiers and snowboarders who are comfortable off-piste and fit enough for long days in the mountains. Some touring or freeride experience helps, but you don't need years of it. Stages run 4 to 6 hours a day, so good fitness matters more than a big résumé.

Pyrenean Mountain Safety

The Pyrenees are real mountains: unpatrolled off-piste terrain, changing snowpack and weather that can turn quickly. Your certified local mountain guide assesses snow and weather every day before any route is chosen, and conditions alone decide where the group goes.

Everything on this page is an example of what the week can include, not a promise. Routes, refuges and descents depend on the weather, the snow and the group.

Insurance is not included. Your personal insurance must cover off-piste skiing and ski touring, including mountain rescue.
