5 full days of skiing or snowboarding in Austria's backcountry with experienced guides and freeriders!

There is no doubt that Austria is one of the best ski destinations on the planet and it provides a huge amount of great skiing for everyone. Its perfect ski lift infrastructure combined with Snowbusters knowledge of the area and the use of touring techniques offers endless freeride possibilities in fresh powder or untouched steep lines. It is definitely one of our favorite places to ride as the variety offered here provides options in almost any weather conditions. 

 

In these 5 days, we will teach you all the skills required to squeeze the most out of any mountain. We will start by finding the highest quantity of quality freeskiing & snowboarding, and show you how to properly assess risk, avalanche danger, and guide you through backcountry safety. 

 

What You'll Learn:

 
All necessary skills and knowledge to be able to shred and ride powder and big mountains such as:
 
  • Avalanche safety skills
  • First aid theory and skills
  • Group behavior in an avalanche zone
  • Basic understanding of outdoor risks (so you can make it home safely every day)
  • Big mountain riding safety
  • Day planning (avalanche risks, group skills, and level, ...)
  • Descent & ascent line selection
  • Ski & snowboard technique coaching
  • Skinning & climbing technique
  • Using crampons & ice axes
  • Equipment introduction and treatment
  • Mountain Climbing techniques (abseiling, useful knots, equipment, ...)
     

Physical & technical requirements

 

  • Previous freeride/backcountry skiing & snowboarding is not required, confident riding on black slopes is essential
  • Suitable for adults and children from 15 years
  • The course can be purchased by individuals, couples, or groups of friends
  • Physical intensity: high

 

A minimum of 3 participants is necessary to run this trip. In the case there are not enough people, you can use the price of your booking towards another trip, or we can fully refund you for your purchase.

Accommodation

Accommodation and food are not included in the price of this trip. There are many apartments with kitchens in the area available for rental. There are also many restaurants, bars and cafeterias in the ski resorts and surrounding town. We are happy to recommend options or help you set up an apartment rental if you require it.

Personal ski or snowboard freeride touring equipment such as:

  • avalanche set - beacon, probe & shovel
  • skis with touring bindings or split-board
  • skins,
  • telescopic poles
  • Helmet
  • Goggles & sunglasses
  • Ski or snowboard clothing

This is required gear to attend this course. If you do not own this equipment you are responsible for renting it. If you need help finding rentals please let us know and we can help you locate them.
